How it Works

What Is a Medical Alert System?

Medical alert systems offer a fast and easy way for those that live alone, are at risk of falling, have a health condition, or just want to maintain independence as they get older, to get help during an emergency.  PAL Button teams are there to help whether you have a medical problem, a fall, a fire, or any event that requires an immediate response. This personal alert link assures you, and your loved ones, that help is the push of a button away in multiple scenarios.

What System Is Best For Me?

Each system we offer at PAL includes different equipment that will fit your individual needs.  The in-home system uses a landline telephone connection and consists of a base unit and a portable (PAL) help button. It is designed for use inside and around the home and can communicate with the base unit at distances up to 1500 feet.

Our mobile system is embedded with GPS technology so you can call for help anywhere in the US.  So whether you are around the house, out on the golf course, or shopping at the mall, we have the solution for you to initiate a call to a response center for assistance.

Depending on which option you choose, PAL Buttons can be worn as a pendant around the neck or on your wrist like a watch.  The button is also waterproof so it can be worn in the shower.

How Medical Alert Systems Work

To call for help, simply press the help button on the base unit or your wearable device. The base unit will automatically dial up the PAL response center. A live certified case manager will answer the call and ask if everything is alright. With our at-home system, the base unit acts as a hands-free speakerphone, and the mobile system has a microphone and speaker built into it, so all you have to do is tell the agent what your situation is and request help.  The agent will then call 911, have an emergency responder dispatched to your address, and begin calling the numbers on your contact list to notify them of the emergency. Information such as existing conditions, medications, physician contacts, and allergies goes into your personal database and is relayed
